Anna, Jamie and I were invited to play at the Ferrara Buskers Festival in Italy a few weeks ago. Jeremy was invited too but couldn’t make it due to prior commitments. We had a great time playing every day of the 10-day festival and met loads of people from all over the place. It was incredible to have such attentive, gracious and encouraging crowds at every show we played. We set up on narrow streets, beautiful piazzas and even in the courtyard of the castle. And I tell you, there’s a reason papparazzi is an Italian word. I don’t think any of us ever had our picture taken so frequently and simultaneously. We met a lot of other great musicians from all over the world and got to eat 3 meals a day with them in the hotel. Hotel Astra was full of buskers and it was always fun to walk down the hallways and hear the sounds of fiddles, kazoos, trumpets, djembes and guitars coming from behind closed doors. Lots of good stories out of these few days! Thanks to Katie Ferrara for hooking us up with the gig and to Stefano Bottoni and Roberta Galeotti for having us over!
